Livingstone College Football Opens Up Camp Week

SALISBURY – Livingstone College football opens its preparations for the 2022 fall season this week as its student-athletes officially report for fall camp on Wednesday with practice opening Friday morning on the brand new turf field at Alumni Memorial Stadium.

The report day schedule includes meeting with academics, compliance, strength & conditioning, and the athletic equipment staff.

The Blue Bears open their preseason fall camp three weeks before the first game. In their first of two helmet-only practices in the NCAA-mandated acclimation period on Friday, Aug. 12. The Blue Bears are slated to practice daily from 6:00 am until 8:00 am. Each afternoon includes team, unit, and position meetings, as well as work in the weight room with the Strength & Conditioning staff.

Livingstone football preseason camp schedule features 7 practice sessions before school starts on Monday, Aug. 22, when the team moves into its in-season schedule. The schedule also includes two preseason scrimmages, on Saturday, Aug, 20, and Saturday, Aug. 27.

Entering his second season as the head coach of the Blue Bears, Sean Gilbert talked with members of the media several weeks ago at the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Media Day about building the Blue Bears football program. Gilbert feels that despite being picked to finish second to last in CIAA in 2022, there is a belief among players and coaches that the Blue Bears are better than what they are perceived.

"We have established a great foundation for our team, the work started before August 12, and the journey begins September 3."
