SALISBURY - BOXTOROW announced the 2022 Superlative Awards Wednesday morning with Kevin Larkins Jr. claiming Rookie/Newcomer of The Year.

Larkins Jr., a freshman from Fort Lauderdale was selected to The HBCU All-America team after leading the country in interceptions per game (.9) and is tied for the lead with eight interceptions. He returned those interceptions for 161 yards, third in the country, with one returned for a touchdown. He also registered four pass breakups and 40 tackles (32 solo).

The honor is the seventh for Larkins Jr. this year as he's been named to the 2022 BOXTOROW HBCU All-American Defensive Team, to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association second-team all-region, CIAA player of the week, CIAA Defensive Rookie of the Year, First-Team All-CIAA, and Defensive All-CIAA Rookie Team. Larkins finished the season with eight total interceptions, 161 interception return yards, one interception return touchdown, and .9 interceptions per game. Kevin ended the 2022 season number one in the nation and the CIAA for interception per game.
