CHARLOTTE, North Carolina | Six HBCU golf programs competed in the inaugural Charlie Sifford Centennial Cup on Monday at Quail Hollow Club.
Team Sifford (Livingstone College, Florida A&M, and Alabama State,) defeated Team Black (Howard, Texas Southern, and Johnson C. Smith).
Players were split by school into two teams of 12 for nine-hole Four-Ball matches in the morning before 18-hole Singles matches slated for the afternoon. The format followed Presidents Cup scoring and routing at Quail Hollow.
Team Charles Sifford Jr. won 12-6 over Team James Black.
Two out of the four Blue Bears won their match led by Ronald Otile and Colline Ajidra. Otile defeated Johnson C. Smith's Cameron Speights with five wins and two holes remaining. Colline Ajidra defeated JCSUs Dylan Mauricette with six wins and no holes remaining.
The Blue Bears are back in action on September 26 for the HBCU Hall of Fame Golf Invitational hosted by the Black College Golf Coaches Association.
