Belmont, NC - The Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears suffered a 79-62 loss to Belmont Abbey University on Saturday evening.

The first half got off to a slow start for the Lady Blue Bears. Cierra York and Alexis Hicks worked effortlessly for Livingstone. They scored seven and six points respectively while Hicks grabbed six rebounds.

The Lady Blue Bears had a tough time making shots in the first half as they only made eight-of-35 shots. The Lady Crusaders ended the first half in the lead 41-24. The Lady Crusaders shot 56 percent compared to Livingstone's 22.9 percent from the field.

In the second half, the Lady Blue Bears turned up their offense and defensive pressure but was outplayed by the Lady Crusaders. With less than six minutes left in the game, the Lady Blue Bears went on a 6-0 run. The Lady Crusaders responded with their consistent shooting.

Hicks propelled the Lady Blue Bears in scoring with 18 points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.

York paced the Lady Blue Bears with 19 points.

The loss drops the Lady Blue Bears to 5-5 overall.

Livingstone will return to action on January 2 as they host Bowie State University in their first CIAA matchup of the New Year. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
