Ashley Walker (Washington, DC) was short of a double-double night. Walker scored a team high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the 76-61 loss to Bowie State University Thursday night. Walker hit four-of-eight shots behind the three point line.
In the first half, the Lady Blue Bears played very close with the Lady Bulldogs and went into the locker room with a 31-29 advantage.
In the second half Livingstone gave up 47 points to the Lady Bulldogs which edged Bowie to their victory. The Lady Blue Bears couldn't stop Bowie behind the arc. The Lady Bulldogs made 11-of-14 three pointers.
Tiffany Evans (Durham, NC) layup at the 15:59 mark allowed the Lady Blue Bears to lead by as much as 13 points, but a poor shooting percentage (35 percent) as a team gave the game away.
Cierra York (Winston-Salem, NC) finished the game with 13 points and seven rebounds.
As a team the Lady Blue Bears shot 33.9 percent from the field, 53.3 percent at the charity stripe and out-rebounded Bowie 42-38.
The Lady Bulldogs had four players to score double figures. Bowie shot 47.1 percent from the field, made 17-of-27 shots behind the three point line and shot 52.4 percent at the free throw line.
The loss drops Livingstone to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in the CIAA conference.
Bowie State improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA.
The Lady Blue Bears travel to Richmond, Virginia to take on Virginia Union University Lady Panthers, January 5. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
