SALISBURY, NC – The Livingstone women's basketball team committed 31 turnovers Saturday, leading to 29 Fayetteville State points as the Broncos defeated the Blue Bears 84-64.
The Blue Bears started the game off very strong against the Broncos, getting opening up as much as a nine-point lead in just over five minutes of the first half. Fayetteville battled back, getting the Livingstone lead down to one multiple times before being able to grab its first lead of the game at 22-21 with 4:30 remaining in the opening half. The Broncos built their lead to as much as six points with just less than two minutes left, but Livingstone was able to back within 33-31 at the break.
Fayetteville quickly continued its momentum to start the second half, going up by seven within two minutes and extending its lead to double-digits with 12:12 left in the contest. Livingstone only briefly got its deficit under 10 points before the Broncos were able to cruise home to victory over the final 10 minutes.
Jasmine Murray recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cierra York also finished with 11 points.
The Blue Bears shot 33.3 percent from the floor including 30 percent from three-point range. Livingstone struggled from the free-throw line, converting only 23-of-41 of its attempts.
Livingstone will return to action on Monday when they head to Winston-Salem, NC to take on the Rams of Winston-Salem State University at 5:30 p.m.
