SALISBURY, NC – The Livingstone women's basketball team was unable to hold a 15-point lead in the second half as the Blue Bears dropped their first game of the season 62-58 to the Elizabeth City State Vikings Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Blue Bears fell to 2-1 on the season overall and 0-1 in the conference while Elizabeth City improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA.
Senior guard Kayler McBride led the Blue Bears for the third-straight game in points with 19. Junior forward Brittany Wright also pulled down seven boards to lead the team.
Livingstone led by 15 points with 13:44 to play in the second quarter, but weren't able to hold it down the stretch. Elizabeth City got 44 points from their bench and 21 points off Blue Bear turnovers to score the victory.
The Blue Bears will be back in action Monday night when the host the Tigers of St. Paul's College at 5:30 p.m. at Trent Gym.
