Lady Blue Bears Show Resilience in Tough Battle Against Belmont Abbey

Salisbury, NC- Livingstone College displayed remarkable grit and high-level skill in a challenging matchup against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. Despite a 4-0 final score in favor of the Crusaders, the narrative on the courts was one of intense competition and standout individual performances that kept the Blue Bears in the fight until the final point.

Doubles Action: A Strong Start at the Top
The Blue Bears ignited the match with an impressive victory at the No. 1 doubles spot. Ashley Cooke and Monica Castaldo showcased exceptional chemistry and precision, securing a win that momentarily shifted the momentum and provided a significant confidence boost for the squad.

However, the doubles point ultimately swung to the Crusaders due to a default at the No. 3 position and a tough loss at the No. 2 spot.

Singles Highlight: Castaldo Continues Her Streak
The individual highlight of the day belonged to Monica Castaldo. Carrying the momentum from her 2025 First Team honors, Castaldo delivered a breakout performance at the No. 1 singles position. Her victory was a masterclass in Blue Bear tennis, proving she remains a formidable force at the top of the lineup.

Looking Ahead
While the team score didn't fall their way, the Blue Bears proved that the statistics don't tell the full story. Every player fought through grueling sets, demonstrating a level of tenacity that bodes well for the rest of the season.
