SALISBURY – The full schedule for the upcoming Livingstone College Women's Basketball season was released Sunday, September 25.
This season will be the fourth for Head Coach Chiante Wester at Livingstone College as she is coming off an (8-20, 4-12) regular season and a 2-1 post-season record where they made it to the CIAA Semi-Finals for the first time in over a decade.
Coach Wester brought in a star-studded freshman Samiyah Briggs, a 5'9 shooting guard from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Livingstone also added the two transfers in this year's cycle, Jardyn Alexander (Georgia) a 5'10 wing, as well as Briana Chambers (Australia) a 6'4 post player.
The three newcomers will look to mesh with key contributors from last year's squad such as Andresia Alexander, Sha'Terra Ferrell, Madison Clay, Thalia Carter, Alyssa Boyce, Alexis Lake, and Jamiah Lane.
The Blue Bears' non-conference schedule is highlighted by trips to Orlando, FL for the HBCU Tipoff, Institute, WV for the CIAA/ Mountain East Challenge.
"I find it to be a good challenge to start off playing teams in the Mountain East conference," said Head Coach Wester
Livingstone's road non-conference play will include, the University of Mount Olive (Nov. 26), Paine College (Dec. 1), Augusta University (Dec. 3), Limestone University (Dec. 12), Morris College (Jan. 30), and Salem University (Feb. 6).
"These non-conference games will be challenging but it also helps us build our confidence going into conference play," said head coach Wester.
The Blue Bears are set to host their first five games of the season in New Trent Gym, beginning on (Nov. 22) against UVA-Wise. The University of Fort Lauderdale will travel to Salisbury on (Nov. 29), followed by Bowie State University on (Dec. 15), Lincoln University on (Dec. 17), and Virginia Union University on (Dec. 19).
The Blue Bears play home-and-home this year against Claflin, Fayetteville, Johnson C. Smith, St. Augustine's, and Winston-Salem State.
"I want us to be well polished and be able to make plays," said head coach Wester.
All home and Conference games will be streamed live on the CIAA Sports Network.
