SALISBURY – After Livingstone College women's basketball (0-2) opened their season scoring at the Atlantic Region Tip-off the past weekend, the Blue Bears will be back in New Trent Gym Saturday at 2 p.m. ET to host the Apprentice School Newport (1-3).
To open the season, Livingstone dropped to West Virginia State University, 90-60, to the 2022 Division II National Champions Glenville State College, 85-56. Livingstone made 44 free throws in the season debut, also a program record.
Senior Guard Alyssa Boyce was impressive in Saturday's season opener. Boyce played 16 minutes in the season opener and led the Blue Bears with 12 points.
Transfer Center Briana Chambers only played 23 minutes but was the leading scorer with 13 points in Sunday's game against Glenville State. Senior Alexia Lake finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Apprentice School Newport began its season on November 8 at Randolph College and was defeated by the Wildcats, 68-48. The Builders come into Saturday's game on a two-game losing streak.
