Blue Bears to open CIAA Play at home against Vikings

SALISBURY –The Livingstone College men's basketball team will continue its homestand by opening conference play at home on Thursday, welcoming Elizabeth City State University to the William J. Trent Gymnasium for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Livingstone (3-8; 0-2) enters Thursday's contest after defeating Paine College 85-73 this past Saturday at home. As a team, the Blue Bears average 75.2 points per contest; while shooting .438 percent from the field, .355 percent from the candy stripe, and .630 percent from the line.

The Vikings (1-11; 0-3) are coming off a 68-56 defeat to Barton College before the break in the Vaughan Center. Senior forward Jordan Jones recorded a team-high 13 points and grabbed nine boards in the effort.

As a team for the season, ECSU is shooting .417 percent from the field, .270 percent from behind the arc, and .682 percent from the candy stripe. Elizabeth City State gets outshot by its opponents 949 to 836.

The Blue Bears will also host Virginia State University on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. and Chowan University on Monday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. Admission is $15.00
