SALISBURY, NC — In a high‑energy rivalry showdown inside William Trent Gymnasium, the Blue Bears protected their home floor with a thrilling 79–76 victory over Winston-Salem State University on Saturday afternoon.
Livingstone exploded out of the gate, delivering one of its strongest opening halves of the season. Behind sharp shooting and crisp ball movement, the Blue Bears built a commanding 48–32 halftime lead, shooting an impressive 57.6% from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
Winston-Salem State responded in the second half, chipping away at the deficit behind timely scoring and strong interior play. The Rams outscored Livingstone 44–31 after the break, but the Blue Bears delivered key baskets and defensive stops in the closing minutes to secure the win and split the season series.
The afternoon belonged to
Jeremiah Mobley, who was unstoppable with a game‑high 32 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including five three-pointers and 7-of-8 from the free‑throw line. Mobley also added three steals, setting the tone on both ends.
Jacob Hukins Jr. added 10 points and four assists, while
Jemez Herd Jr. delivered an efficient 9 points, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor.
As a team, the Blue Bears shot 51.9% from the field, knocked down eight threes, and received 19 points from the bench, giving them the balance needed in a tight rivalry finish.
For Winston-Salem State, Masaun Moore-Bryant led the Rams with 19 points, while Lance Gill and Khyelle Ingram added 15 points apiece. Despite the late push, WSSU couldn't overcome Livingstone's early surge and sharp offensive execution.
The Blue Bears will travel to Baltimore, MD on Sunday, February 22 for the 2026 CIAA Basketball Tournament. Additional information will be released at a later time.
