Blue Bears Skid Past Broncos 58-54

Junior guard Mark Thomas scored a game high 19 points to lead Livingstone (17-5, 9-4) to a 58-54 victory over Fayetteville State University (8-14, 0-7) in Fayetteville, NC on Wednesday night.


Thomas connected on five-of-eight shots from beyond the arc and 7-of-13 shots from the floor. Thomas also added four rebounds on the night.


Senior Ethan Anderson added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Blue Bears.


In the first half, the Blue Bears held the Broncos to a poor 20 percent field goal percentage. Livingstone led by as much as 23 points (31-8) with a layup by junior Anthony Welch, Jr. The Blue Bears ended the half 34-23.


The Blue Bears opened the second half on a 7-0 run to continue their lead in the game at 45-21.


Tyler Johnson paced the Blue Bears with his nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds in the second half.  The Broncos pulled within three points with seven seconds left to play.  Anderson's made free throw shot sealed the Blue Bears victory.


The Blue Bears forced 14 turnovers while committing 20.


Livingstone shot 39 percent (18-46) from the field. The Blue Bears hit on 14-of-22 (63 percent) free throws.


The win ties the 2004-2005 single season record for most wins; which was set under Coach Stinson in his first season with the Blue Bears.


The Blue Bears return to action Saturday, February 16 when they travel to Charlotte, NC to face Johnson C. Smith University.
