Jody Hill led the Livingstone College men's basketball team in their 65-45 blowout win against Claflin University on Wednesday. Hill recorded 19 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
The Blue Bears had the Panthers on lock the entire game. The Blue Bears defense forced the Panthers to go scoreless for five minutes while the Blue Bears ran up the score. At the 12:17 mark the score was 24-4. In the first half, the Blue Bears shot 43 percent from the field and scored 11 points off of the Panthers' turnovers.
In the second half, the Panthers still couldn't recover from the Blue Bears pressure. The Panthers were able to pull with nine points three times, but the Blue Bears kept up their defensive pressure while making their offense prevalent.
Livingstone was also led by
Mark Thomas' 16 points and three assists. The Blue Bears were paced by
Tyler Johnson's 15 points and eight rebounds. Johnson made five-of-six shots from the charity stripe.
As a team, the Blue Bears out-rebounded Claflin 44-39 and recorded 11 steals.
Livingstone will face Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia on December 8. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
