Salisbury, NC-The Livingstone College men's basketball team defeated Allen University 79-64 on the final day of the Claude Saunders/Wendy's Tip-off Classic hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. The Blue Bears had four players with double figures.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle with the score being tied five times. The Blue Bears took control around the 2:36 mark when Darnell Turner scored a lay-up off of a rebound. Turner finished the game with 10 points. Livingstone maintained the lead and finished the first half in the lead 31-25.
In the second half, the Blue Bears led by as much as 18 points over the Yellow Jackets. Livingstone maintained their momentum and finished with another victory.
The Blue Bears improved their record to 4-1.
Livingstone's Jody Hill, Jr., scored a game high 24 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had four blocks and three steals.
The Blue Bears were also paced by
Mark Thomas' 17 points and Eladio Espinoza's 10 points and seven rebounds.
Tyler Johnson was on the boards for Livingstone and snatched a game-high 17 rebounds; 10 offensive and seven defensive. The Blue Bears out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 50-to-30.
Livingstone improved their record to 4-1 on the season.
The Blue Bears travel to Orangeburg, SC to face Claflin University on November 28. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
