SUMTER, SC – The Livingstone men's basketball team fell Saturday afternoon 61-59 to Morris College in a non-conference contest.
Morris came out and took an early lead over the Blue Bears, but only by as much as five points. Livingstone took its first lead of the game at 13-12 with 10:21 left in the first half. The teams traded the lead four times over the final five minutes. Morris took the final four points of the first half to send the game into halftime, tied at 25-25.
Morris again grabbed the early lead to start the second half and held a one-point edge at 29-28 with 16:52 remaining. Morris then went on a 13-2 run and opened a 42-30 lead with 13:48 left in the game.
Livingstone continued to trail by 12 with 10:32 remaining, but the Blue Bears fought back in a big way and took its first lead of the second half at 54-53 with 4:49 remaining. With 1:11 remaining in the game, Morris led by two wasn't able to even get a field-goal attempt off in the final minute, falling 61-59.
Omar Ford-Bey led only two Blue Bears in double figures with 15 points while Mark Thomas added 12 points. Nasir Austin led Livingstone with 10 rebounds.
The Blue Bears will head to Raleigh, NC on Monday when they take on the Falcons of St. Augustine's College in a 7:30 p.m. conference contest.
