Box Score

SALISBURY
, NC
– The Livingstone men's basketball team couldn't complete a second-half comeback Saturday night against the Bowie State Bulldogs as they fell 74-67.

On multiple occasions this season the Blue Bears have been able to overcome double-digit second half deficits, but were unable to orchestrate another come-from-behind victory Saturday after trailing by as much as 20 points in the second half.

Livingstone and Bowie battled it out in the first seven minutes of the game, with each team taking their chance at leading the contest.  With 10:01 showing on the clock Bowie had a one-point edge.  Bowie's Eric Vann connected on a layup with 9:26 on the clock to spark a 14-2 run over the next 2:02 to take their lead to 13 points with 7:24 left in the first half.  Bowie maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the half and took a 42-27 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Bears trailed by 17 points with 16:45 showing on the clock in the second half before going on a 9-0 run to get within eight points with 13:45 left in the game.  The run was negated quickly by the Bulldogs as they went on a 14-2 run to open a 20-point advantage with 9:15 to play.

The Blue Bears showed heart following the Bulldog run as they followed the Bowie State 14-2 run with a 17-2 run of their own and were down by only five points with 1:54 on the clock.  Bowie put the clamp down on the Blue Bears from the free-throw line in the final two minutes as they converted all 10 of their free-throw attempts in the final minute and a half to seal their 74-67 victory.

Senior forward Megail Cannon led the Blue Bears with 18 points and also grabbed seven boards.  Senior forward Jarred Stockton also notched 13 points and led Livingstone in rebounds with eight.

Livingstone was without the services of senior center Keith Darden and without him the Bulldogs pounded Livingstone down near the basket.  The Bulldogs scored 30 points in the paint and outrebounded the Blue Bears 39-35.

The Livingstone men will return to the court Monday evening as they look to snap their three-game losing skid when they host the Lincoln University Lions at 7:30 p.m.
