Salisbury, N.C.- Livingstone College football is set to host its annual spring game on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Stadium, marking one of the most anticipated days of the program's offseason. The scrimmage, dubbed the "Black & Blue Game," will serve as both a competitive intrasquad matchup and a key recruiting opportunity for the Blue Bears.
Roughly 150 high school student-athletes are expected on campus for the program's Junior Day, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Recruiting coordinator Damani Neal emphasized the importance of the event, calling it "a big day for the program and the future of the program," as prospective student-athletes and their families get an inside look at Livingstone College football.
Throughout the day, visitors will be introduced to the program's core pillars: discipline, dedication, determination, desire, and dependability—values the coaching staff believes define the Blue Bears' identity both on and off the field.
The spring showcase comes on the heels of a productive recruiting stretch. The program signed 30 players on National Signing Day in February and has since added more than 10 additional student-athletes, with more expected to join the fold in the coming months. In the meantime, the team is leaning on a mix of youthful energy and experienced leadership as it continues to build toward the fall season.
Defensively, returning standouts like linebacker Manny Moss and safety
Malachi Adkins have played a crucial role in bringing along a young but physical unit, helping establish the standard and reinforce the team's defensive identity. On offense, quarterback
Elijah Alexander and running back
Javen Parker have provided steady leadership, setting the tone with discipline and toughness as the unit continues to develop.
Following the spring game, the Blue Bears will face one final test: a joint practice with Catawba College next Friday. The session will serve as a valuable measuring stick and a final tune-up before the team transitions into fall camp with momentum and a clearer sense of direction.
