Raleigh, N.C. (Walnut Creek) – Livingstone College softball wrapped up Day 1 of the CIAA Round-Up on Thursday with a pair of tough losses, falling to Bluefield State in Game 1 and Bowie State in Game 2.
Game 1: Bluefield State 10, Livingstone 6
Livingstone and Bluefield State opened CIAA Round-Up action with a marathon showdown that stretched 11 innings, with the Blue Bears ultimately falling 10–6 despite a strong offensive performance.
Bluefield State struck early, but Livingstone answered in the second inning when
Emma Cardenas stole home to tie the game 1–1. The Blue Bears took control in the fifth,
plating two runs — first on
Gerielle Dumervil's RBI groundout, followed by
Natayah Abdul-Hakim stealing home to give Livingstone a 3–1 advantage.
The game remained tight through the late innings, and Livingstone continued to respond. In the eighth,
Emma Cardenas drove in
Gerielle Dumervil with a groundout, and in the ninth,
Makaylah Sutton's sacrifice fly scored
Lanise Pates, tying the game again.
In the 10th,
Valeria Rolon doubled in Dumervil to give the Blue Bears a 6–5 lead, but Bluefield State answered and carried momentum into extra innings, pulling away with four runs in the 11th.
Despite the loss, Livingstone fought throughout, recording 12 hits.

Livingstone was held to just one hit in the night contest, dropping a 3–0 decision to Bowie State.
Scoring Summary
- 1st Inning: BSU's Angelina Nguyen‑Nhu doubled up the middle to score the game's first run.
- 3rd Inning: Bowie State added two more—an RBI single by M. Amos and another run plated on A. Newell's infield single that advanced on an error.
The Blue Bears kept BSU scoreless the rest of the way but couldn't generate offensive momentum.
