Softball Falls to Fayetteville State in Saturday Doubleheader

SALISBURY, N.C. Livingstone College softball dropped both games of its doubleheader against Fayetteville State University on Saturday afternoon at the Jaycee Optimist Sports Complex, falling 16–3 in game one and 17–2 in game two.

Game One: Fayetteville State 16, Livingstone 3
Fayetteville State used a pair of big offensive innings to secure a 16–3 win in the opener. The Broncos jumped out early with a three-run home run in the first inning and scored eight runs in the third to build a commanding lead.

Livingstone found early momentum when Valeria Rolon hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The Blue Bears added two more runs in the third as Rolon delivered again, singling to center field to drive in Dayjah Jones and Natayah Abdul-Hakim.

Rolon finished game one with a strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Aniyah Jones and Abdul-Hakim also recorded hits for Livingstone. Lanise Pates took the loss in the circle, while Kevana Deberry earned the win for Fayetteville State after pitching five innings.

Game Two: Fayetteville State 17, Livingstone 2
Game two saw Fayetteville State pull away with a nine-run fourth inning en route to a 17–2 victory. The Broncos took advantage of control issues and timely hitting to break the game open.

Livingstone scored both of its runs in the third inning. Rylee Watson doubled to center field to bring home Rolon, then later scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 5–2. Watson recorded the lone extra-base hit for the Blue Bears in the contest, while Pates went 2-for-2 at the plate.
