Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Livingstone Men’s Basketball Falls on the Road at Claflin, 67–53

Orangeburg, SC — The Livingstone College men's basketball team dropped a CIAA road contest to Claflin University, 67–53, Saturday afternoon at Tullis Arena.

The Blue Bears stayed within striking distance early, trailing by just two points at halftime after a competitive first half. Livingstone scored 29 points in the opening period and relied on steady defense to keep the game close against the Panthers.

Claflin gained separation in the second half, using a strong inside presence and improved shooting to outscore Livingstone 36–24 over the final 20 minutes. Despite getting to the free-throw line 28 times, the Blue Bears struggled from the field, shooting 23.7 percent for the game.

James Nipper led Livingstone with 15 points, while Omarion Bodrick added nine points and five rebounds. Kenneth Tyree Jr. and Jeremiah Mobley each finished with eight points, with Mobley converting all six of his free-throw attempts off the bench. Justin Baxter chipped in six points and five rebounds as Livingstone battled on the glass.

Livingstone forced 18 Claflin turnovers and received 21 points from its bench, but Claflin's rebounding advantage and second-chance opportunities proved to be the difference.

The Blue Bears will return to action on Wednesday, January 21, when they host Fayetteville State University at home in CIAA play. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game.
