Salisbury, NC- The Livingstone College men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 63-60 victory over Bluefield State on Saturday afternoon at William Trent Gymnasium.
Trailing 28-25 at halftime, the Blue Bears surged in the second half, outscoring the Big Blue 38-32 behind clutch shooting and strong defense. The contest featured 14 ties and nine lead changes, keeping fans on edge until the final buzzer.
Kenneth Tyree Jr. led the way with 16 points, including three triples and a perfect 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Jeremiah Mobley added 14 points off the bench, while
Omarion Bodrick chipped in 10 points and three blocks.
James Nipper contributed 10 points and four free throws in the closing minutes.
Livingstone shot 55% in the second half and converted 16-of-18 free throws (88.9%), proving decisive in the win. With the victory, the Blue Bears improve to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in CIAA play, while Bluefield State falls to 4-11, 3-3 CIAA.
The Blue Bears return to William Trent Gymnasium on Monday, January 12, hosting a CIAA doubleheader against Elizabeth City State. The men tip off at 7:30 PM, following the women's game at 5:30 PM.
