SALISBURY, N.C.- In a gritty bounce-back performance, the Livingstone Men's Basketball team defeated Winston-Salem State 64-59. The Blue Bears managed to secure the win through a collective team effort, with standout performances from several players.
Jamal Cannady Jr. was a key player for Livingstone, finishing with 18 points, including a perfect 14-of-16 from the free-throw line, along with 3 rebounds and 5 assists in 30 minutes.
James Nipper provided solid support with 12 points, hitting 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.
Jacob Hukins made an immediate impact off the bench, scoring 16 points, all of which came from a flawless 5-of-7 shooting performance, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range.
Defensively, Livingstone was able to hold on to the lead despite several key moments of pressure from Winston-Salem State, and the Blue Bears held their composure to finish strong for the victory.
The Blue Bears will hit the road for their next matchup against Claflin University on Wednesday, February 5, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
