Fayetteville, NC — Livingstone College football dropped a tough CIAA matchup to Fayetteville State University this afternoon, falling 38–14.
The Blue Bears started strong, striking first with a 1-yard touchdown run by
Elijah Alexander midway through the first quarter.
Jason Zapata added the extra point to give Livingstone an early 7–0 lead.
Fayetteville State responded quickly, tying the game with a 4-yard touchdown run by Bryce Council. The Broncos then took control in the second quarter, scoring twice through the air — a 5-yard touchdown pass from Caden Davis to Kavase Towns, followed by an 8-yard connection between Demari Daniels and Kristian Golden — sending Livingstone into halftime trailing 21–7.
The third quarter proved decisive as Fayetteville State added two more touchdowns. Wilson Kargbo Jr. found Braylon Vinson for an 11-yard score, and Vinson followed up with a 12-yard rushing touchdown just over a minute later, extending the lead to 35–7.
Livingstone answered with a quick 3-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from
Caleb Stokes, narrowing the deficit to 35–14. However, Fayetteville State sealed the win early in the fourth quarter with a 21-yard field goal from John Hernandez-Vargas.
Despite the setback, the Blue Bears showed flashes of potential on both sides of the ball, including efficient scoring drives and resilient defensive moments. Livingstone will aim to regroup and refocus as they prepare for their next CIAA matchup against Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, October 18 at 1 PM.
