SALISBURY, N.C. - As the season nears its end, Livingstone softball was back in action for the final home doubleheader of the season, playing host to Johnson C. Smith. After suffering an 8-1 defeat in game one, the Blue Bears used a strong pitching performance combined with an efficient offensive showing to claim a 6-1 victory in game two, snapping a 27-game losing streak to the Golden Bulls.
Game One
Cianna Bullock and
Sinai Cisneros contributed two hits each in game one, with Cisneros bringing in Livingstone's lone run via a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Johnson C. Smith's strong offense led them to an 8-1 victory in the first game.
Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader was one of the Blue Bears' best of the season. A well-hit ground ball by
Nyla Lowery in the third inning forced an error and helped bring home
Dusti Abshire to give Livingstone a 1-0 lead. One batter later,
Khala Porter found open grass down the right field line to bring home
Cianna Bullock and extend the lead to 2-0.
After plating another pair of runs in the fifth inning, Livingstone continued to pour on the runs in the bottom of the sixth, using tricky base-running to score on two consecutive wild pitches to give the Blue Bears a 6-0 lead.
Ailani Brown had one of her strongest showings of the season in the circle, shutting out the Golden Bulls for the first six innings before finally allowing a run in the top of the seventh. She struck out three batters en route to her third victory of the season.
