SALISBURY, N.C. - The Blue Bears welcomed in rival Winston-Salem State this past Saturday for a CIAA doubleheader. Livingstone struggled to keep the Rams off the board, as they'd drop the first game 11-2 before falling 9-2 in the second.
Game One
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning, Livingstone fought back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at two, thanks to
Natayah Abdul-Hakim who scored on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI double by
Sinai Cisneros which brought home
Rylee Watson.
Winston-Salem State continued to score and would eventually force a run-rule by the end of the fifth inning, winning 11-2.
Game Two
The Blue Bears found themselves down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. After working the bases loaded,
Raquel Talley managed to draw a walk that brought in Livingstone's first run of the game. She was followed by
Ailani Brown, who managed to draw a second consecutive walk which scored the team's second run.
Brown was the team's starting pitcher and while she did not manage a victory, she struck out an impressive eight batters in the performance, as Livingstone fell 9-2 in game two.
Next Up
Livingstone will head to Carolina University on Monday, April 15 for a midday doubleheader at 1/3 P.M.
