SALISBURY, N.C. - After a stormy weekend moved the games back a few days, Livingstone softball had the opportunity to compete in the CIAA Round-Up from Monday, March 25 to Wednesday, March 27. The Blue Bears competed in five CIAA matchups, competing against Lincoln (PA) and Virginia Union on Monday, Bluefield State and Bowie State on Tuesday, and wrapped things up against Virginia State on Wednesday

Game 1
Livingstone took on Lincoln (PA) in game one, falling to the Lions, 8-0. The team managed three hits, one of which came from Dusti Abshire who went 1-2 with a single and a walk. 

Game 2
In the second game of the week, the Blue Bears faced off with Virginia Union. The Panthers got out to an early lead and would hold on as the Blue Bears fell, 8-0. 

Game 3
On the second day of the round-up, Livingstone went against Bluefield State to kick off the day. After falling behind in the top of the first, Cianna Bullock knocked a single to left field that brought home Khala Porter and knotted the game at one. Later in the fifth inning, the Blue Bears took advantage of a fielding error by the Big Blue to score their second run of the game, courtesy of Abshire crossing the plate. Livingstone's offense would stall out after that, ultimately falling 8-2. 

Game 4
The Blue Bears completed their portion of the round-up Tuesday afternoon with a matchup against Bowie State. Livingstone struggled to get going offensively, as the Bulldogs would come out on top, 15-0. 

Game 5
Livingstone fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning but tied it up in the top of the third, thanks to a tricky groundout by Cianna Bullock that brought home Dusti Abshire. Virginia State held the Blue Bears at bay while plating nine more runs, claiming a 10-1 victory over Livingstone.

NEXT UP
The Blue Bears return to competition on Saturday, April 6 and will compete in a road doubleheader at 2/4 PM.
