SALISBURY, N.C. - The Blue Bears were back at home Wednesday afternoon for a home doubleheader against Carolina University. The team struggled to put up runs in game one and suffered a loss via a late comeback in game two, leading the Bruins to a sweep in the doubleheader. The two losses dropped Livingstone's record to 4-4 on the season.
Game 1
The Bruins got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and would eventually grow that lead to 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth. The Blue Bears were able to get one back thanks to an RBI single by
Sinai Cisneros that brought home
Trine Bracey. That would serve as the lone run for Livingstone in that game, as Carolina would go on to win, 13-1.Â
Game 2
Unlike the first game, the Blue Bears were able to strike first and take an early lead. After loading the bases, Cisneros and
Rylee Watson were able to draw back-to-back walks, giving Livingstone an early 2-0 lead. Carolina would tie the game in the top of the fourth but the Blue Bears were able to re-gain the lead in the bottom of the inning thanks to an RBI single by
Khala Porter, followed by some tricky base-running by
Natayah Abdul-Hakim to grow the lead back to two. Heading into the final inning, Livingstone owned a 5-4 lead but would be unable to hang on, as a seventh-inning rally by the Bruins saw them plate three runs and take a 7-5 lead that they'd ultimately hold onto en route to the victory.
