Salisbury, N.C.- In a hard-fought battle, Livingstone fell to Winston-Salem State, losing 31-17.
The contest began with Winston-Salem State (WSSU) taking an early lead as Trevon Hester scored on a 1-yard run, putting the Rams up 7-0. Livingstone quickly responded, with
Davontay Deloatch catching a 10-yard pass from De'Angelo Alston, evening the score at 7-7 after a successful kick by
Jason Zapata.
As the second quarter progressed, the Rams regained control with a 36-yard field goal from Gilberto Lorenzana and a 35-yard touchdown pass from Daylin Lee to Kaleb Washington, stretching their lead to 17-7.
Livingstone narrowed the gap in the third quarter when Zapata converted a 31-yard field goal, bringing the score to 17-10. However, the Rams responded decisively with an interception return for a touchdown by Dante Bowlding, extending their lead to 24-10.
In the fourth quarter, the Rams continued their momentum with a 1-yard run from Daylin Lee, pushing the score to 31-10. Livingstone didn't go down without a fight, as Mohamed Nyanamukenga capped off a late drive with a 1-yard touchdown run, but ultimately, the Blue Bears fell to WSSU.
