Raleigh, N.C.- Livingstone took an early lead, but Shaw turned the tide for a 24-17 win.
In the first quarter, Livingstone started strong. Quarterback De'Angelo Alston connected with
JyMikaah Wells for a 9-yard touchdown pass, capping off a methodical 13-play, 80-yard drive. They doubled their lead shortly after, with Wells running it in from 1 yard out, making it 14-0 by the end of the first.
However, Shaw responded in the second quarter. Jatoine Fields scored on a 2-yard run, narrowing the gap to 14-7 after a solid 12-play drive. The momentum continued to shift as Shaw tied the game with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Christian Peters to Ah'shaan Belcher, and just before halftime, they took the lead with another touchdown pass, this time to Kyree McLean, making it 21-14.
In the third quarter, Shaw extended their lead with a 38-yard field goal by Benjamin Turner, pushing the score to 24-14. Livingstone managed to get on the board again in the fourth with a 40-yard field goal by
Jason Zapata, but it wasn't enough to close the gap, leaving the score 24-17.
The Blue Bears will be back at home this Saturday, November 9th, hosting Johnson C. Smith for senior night, with tip-off at 2 PM.
