SALISBURY – The Livingstone College Softball team (4-15) split a two-game series with St. Augustine's University Saturday afternoon at Jaycee Optimist Sports Complex.
GAME ONE:
The Falcons got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first. The Blue Bears answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, 5-2.
The Falcons tied it up at five in the top of the second inning. The Blue Bears answered in the bottom of the third with four more runs, 9-5.
Both teams were scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning.
Stephanie Barksdale earned the win for the Blue Bears as she struck out eight, allowed eight hits, and seven runs in 7.0 innings pitched.
The Blue Bears added two more runs in the sixth inning. The Falcons tried making a comeback in the top of the seventh but the Blue Bears held them to two runs. The Blue Bears took game one, 11-7.
GAME TWO:
The Blue Bears defense kept the Falcons scoreless to start game two, then came out in the bottom of the first inning scoring four runs.
The Falcons tied it up at four in the fourth inning adding two more runs to their score.
Madalyn Payne picked up the loss by striking out six, allowing 15 hits and ten runs in 7.0 innings pitched. The Blue Bears remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Falcon added five in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning.

The Blue Bears will host Claflin University Sunday, April 16. The First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
