Tennis Finishes 2-1 at CIAA Roundup

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - The Livingstone College women's tennis team fell to Virginia State University Friday, March 17 on day one of the CIAA Roundup, 4-0. 

The Trojans swept the Blue Bears in doubles play. Tanniya Womack and Marissa Paul fell on court three, (6-1). 

Azia Thomas and Brenre Taylor dropped their doubles match on court two, (6-0). 

In singles play, Genesis Missick fought hard but was outlasted in the number one spot by Ashleigh Charles, (6-4)(4-6)(10-6). Brenre Taylor fell in the number two spot to Makensie Pago, (6-0)(6-0).

Azia Thomas dropped in the number three spot to Ginger Johnson, (6-0)(6-0). 

Day Two:

The Livingstone College women's tennis team captured their first wins of the season Saturday, March 18 against Virginia Union University and Elizabeth City State on day two of the CIAA Roundup, (4-1)(4-1). 

Virginia Union:

The Blue Bears got the doubles point against the Panthers. Genesis Missick and Keyvana Resper defeated Jada Sawyer and Marissa Joseph on court one, (6-4). 

Azia Thomas and Brenre Taylor dropped their doubles match on court two, (6-0). 

In singles play, Genesis Missick defeated Jada Sawyer in the number one spot (8-1). Azia Thomas fell in the number two spot to Joy Parker, (3-8).

Marissa Paul defeated Janiya Edwards in the number five spot (8-4). 

Elizabeth City State:

The Blue Bears got the doubles point against the Vikings. Genesis Missick and Keyvana Resper defeated Marley Renner and Keeley Weber on court one, (3-6). 

Marissa Paul and Tanniya Womack defeated Naomi Joseph and Zoey-Ann Wint on court three, (2-6). 

In singles play, Genesis Missick defeated Marley Renner in the number one spot (0-8). Brenre Taylor fell to Juelle St. Clair, (6-1).

Marissa Paul defeated Ashna Mohtoni in the number five spot (3-8). Tanniya Womack secured the match for the Blue Bears by defeating Zoey-Ann Wint in the number six spot (2-8). 

Next Up...

The Blue Bears will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on Shaw University. The first serve is Saturday, March 25.
