BOWIE, Maryland – Livingstone Volleyball (0-5,0-3) dropped a 3-0 decision (18-25, 16-25, 24-25) to Virginia State (8-8,3-1) Saturday afternoon at McKeldin Gym.

The Blue Bears recorded 14 kills and 12 assists, six aces on the evening, five blocks, and registered 28 digs. Virginia State hit .226.

The Trojans hit 37 kills in the match with 32 assists, five aces, and two blocks. 

Taylor Grant led the Blue Bears with six kills, while Aubree Reyes and Bethaney Williams finished with five digs. 

Dekiya Wilson-Thomas finished the afternoon with four digs, seven assists, and one dig.

Set 1

• The Trojans took an early 13-6 lead in the set. The Blue Bears went on a 3-0 to cut the Trojan's lead to four. 
• A big kill by Daja Alejandro-Ortiz put the Blue Bears within three, 13-16. 
• The Trojans closed out the set with a couple of 3-0 runs, 25-18.

Set 2

• The Trojans took another early 10-3 lead. 
• Taylor Grant cut the Trojan lead to five with a big kill, assisted by Dekiya Wilson-Thomas.
• Ultimately, a 7-0 run by the Trojans helped them close out set two, 25-18.

Set 3

• The Blue Bears and Trojans battled the entire third set.
• The Blue Bears went on a few 3-0 runs to keep within one of the Trojans.
• The Blue Bears went on a- 4-0 run to tie it up, 22-22.  
• A kill by Tiffany Chandler tied it up again with the Trojans 23-23.
• Taylor Grant came in with a huge kill to give the Blue Bears their first lead of the match, 24-23.
• Ultimately, a 3-0 run closed out the set for the Trojans, 26-24.
