BOWIE, Maryland – Livingstone Volleyball (0-6,0-4) dropped a 3-0 decision (13-25, 22-25, 9-25) to Elizabeth City State (9-6,3-0) Saturday evening at McKeldin Gym.
The Blue Bears recorded 15 kills and 12 assists, two aces, two blocks, and registered 27 digs. Elizabeth City State hit .181.
The Vikings hit 29 kills in the match with 27 assists, six aces, and three blocks.
Doris Ajagbe led the Blue Bears with six kills, while Aubree Reyes and Ja'Nya Lunnermon finished with 13 digs.
Set 1
- The Vikings took an early 15-5 lead in the set. A kill by Taylor Grant cut the Viking's lead to nine, 10-19.
- The Blue Bears struggled to get something going. The Vikings had a couple of 4-0 runs to secure the first set.
Set 2
- The Blue Bears took an early 7-3 lead to start set two.
- An attack error by Tiffany Chandler allowed the Vikings to tie the set, 10-10.
- The Blue Bears regained a four-point lead with a kill by Doris Ajagbe.
- A 5-0 run by the Vikings gave them back the lead, 16-17. The Blue Bears quickly tied it back up with an attack error by Jada Rouse.
- Tied up again at 22-22, the Vikings went on a 3-0 run to take set two.
Set 3
- The Vikings controlled the entire third set.
- The Vikings went on a 10-0 run to take a 17-2 lead. A service error finally gave the Blue Bears a chance at another run.
- Ultimately, a few service errors by the Blue Bears and kills by the Vikings closed out set three.
- The Vikings won the match in set three, 25-9.
