BOONE, North Carolina – The Livingstone track and field program opened its 2022-2023 season at the John Weaver Invitational which was highlighted by an NCAA National Qualifier and multiple personal best. "We had multiple highlights from a national qualifier to a school record, to multiple personal best," said head coach Justin Davis.

The most impressive performance of the day came from Cameron Snead in the Triple Jump. With a jump of 14.47, Snead became an NCAA National Qualifier.
The men's 4x300-meter team also had an impressive performance to open up the season. Louis Gilbert, Tyler Wagner, Keilan Strander, and David Bradford set a school record by taking second in the 4x300-meter relay with a time of 2:23.60. The previous school record for the men's 4x300 was set in 2015 with a time of 2:26.52.
"This is probably the best start that we have had to our indoor meet in December," said Head Coach Justin Davis.
It wasn't just the men's 4x300 meter team that performed well. Marcus Cook set a personal record in both the Triple Jump (14.22 m) and the Long Jump ( 6.71). Freshman Cameron Sead finished fourth in the Triple Jump (14.47 m) and third in the Long Jump (6.83 m).
David Bradford took third in the 55-meter hurdles and set a personal best with a time of 7.72. Bradford also took first in the 400-meter dash setting a personal best time of 49.37.
Tyler Wagner placed seventh in the 55-meter dash and set a personal best time of 6.52.
Keilan Strander finished fifth in the 400-meter dash setting a personal best of 51.34. Asiyah Clifton finished tenth in the women's triple jump. Clifton set a personal best of 10.26 meters.
Lydia Chapple set a personal best in the women's 55-meter dash with a time of 7.29. Chapple finished eighth in the 55-meter dash at the John Weaver Invitational.
Nicole Diaz-Ubiera placed ninth in the women's 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 1:09.65.
"I always like to get this tune-up before going on break, but we will actually get another chance to work on some things next weekend," said head coach Davis.
