SALISBURY, N.C. - After a pair of strong meets to kick off the season, Livingstone track and field had their best showing of the season last weekend, competing in the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational on the campus of Roanoke College.
On the men's side
David Bradford,
Matthew Blackmon, and
Luis Azar-Moise posted head-turning performances in their respective sports. Bradford dashed to a first-place time of 22.53 in the 200 meter dash. Blackmon heavily improved on his prelims time in the 60 meter hurdles, taking the top spot at 8.02 which is an NCAA Division II qualifier and is currently the eighth-fastest time in the country. Azar also showed off, posting an NCAA Division II qualifying distance in the triple jump, reaching 14.49 meters and claiming first place.
Jordan Geddie set a personal best in the 300 meters, clocking in at 36.39 which was good for fourth.
Deven Lewis and Chris Mulder both posted second-place finishes in their respective events. Lewis came in second in the 400 meters (50.59) and Mulder in both the high jump (1.93 meters) and the triple jump (13.85 meters).
In the relays, the quartet of Strader,
Louis Gilbert, Lewis and Mungo ran the 4x400 relay, coming in at 3:29.54, good for second place.
Brandon Jeffers, Gilbert,
Adrian Taranto, and
Truth Mattison came in at third in the distance medley relay (11:42.50).
On the women's side,
Dajaneen Alejandro-Ortiz and
Trinity Bumbry led the way with a pair of second-place finishes in their events. Alejandro-Ortiz set a personal record in the 600 meters, hitting a time of 1:51.13. Bumbry came in second in the 400 meters, coming in at just over a minute (1:00.81).
Both relays dashed to impressive third-place finishes on the weekend.
Saa'Naudia Deloatch,
Thomyka Valcent,
Tanniya Womack, and Bumbry crossed the finish line at 4:08.05 in the 4x400.
In the distance medley relay, the same quartet finsihed in third at 13:46.57.

After the new year, Livingstone will head up north to New York to compete in the HBCU Showcase on Saturday, January 13.
