CIAA Announces 2022-23 Bowling Preseason Predictions and All-Conference Team

Charlotte, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announces the 2022-23 All-CIAA Preseason Women's Bowling Team and Predicted Order of Finish voted on by the CIAA Bowling Coaches Associations and the Sports Information Directors Association. CIAA Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year Carrington Hayward (Livingstone) leads the list.
 
Last season, the Bulldogs of Bowie State University claimed the Northern Division title with a 35-4 conference record (26-1 in division play) led by Coach Andrew Campbell. The Bulldogs have won six straight CIAA Bowling Championships and they are predicted to win their seventh consecutive championship followed by Fayetteville State and Johnson C. Smith. 

Fayetteville State's Bobby Henderson was named CIAA Coach of the Year for the fourth straight year after leading Fayetteville State to a 44-4 CIAA record (33-3 in division play) last season. 

After a 37-11 season, Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith are predicted to take third for the 2022-23 season. Amara Turner, Brianna Hudgins, Ishauna Anderson, and Aniya Jones return to earn their spot on the All-CIAA Preseason Team.

The preseason All-CIAA bowling team is highlighted by 2022 CIAA Player and Rookie of the Year Carrington Hayward from Livingstone. Last season, Hayward finished with the highest scoring average within the CIAA at 183.69 pins per match. Fayetteville State takes three spots on the list with Angel Pope, Denise Brown, and Cecelia Chafin. Johnson C. Smith takes four spots with Amara Turner, Brianna Hudgins, Ishauna Anderson, and Aniya Jones. Also Olivia Watts from Bowie State who placed within the top 15. Some new faces to add to the list, Ashley Sharpe from Virginia Union, who placed 15th in the 2022 CIAA Bowling Championship last March.
