The Blue Bears Finish 2-0 at the JCSU Tip-Off

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Livingstone College jumped out to a 20-2 lead on day two of the JCSU Tip-Off Classic. Livingstone College defeated Morris College in game two Saturday afternoon in Brayboy Gym, 112-54. 

The Blue Bears improved to 3-4 in the season, while Morris College drops to 0-6.

Livingstone was led by Arion Broadnax with 19 points. Followed by Pharoah Lassiter with 14 points. Sila Tako had 12 points and five rebounds. Detionne Leach finished with 10 points and six rebounds. 

Morris College's Antonio Vaught and Daquan Ramey paced their team with 15 points each. Keita Moctar finished with 10 points and six rebounds. 

The Blue Bears went on a 15-0 run in the first five minutes of the game, 20-2. The Hornets Antonio Vaught answered with a three-pointer to cut the Blue Bears' lead by 15, 20-5. The Blue Bears took a 30-point plus lead over the Hornets with 4:21 remaining in the first half, 42-11. Jemez Herd Jr. ended the first half with a dunk for the Blue Bears, 55-18. 

Detionne Leach added to the Blue Bears' lead coming out of halftime with a layup, 57-18. Another layup by Leach would extend the Blue Bears' lead by 50 with 14:38 to go in the second half. The Blue Bears would remain steady with their 50-point plus lead through the rest of the second half. 

Livingstone would end the game shooting 67.7% (4-of-65). Morris would make 19-of-55 overall for 34.5 percent. The Hornets shot 52.9% from the free-throw line (9 out of 17). The Blue Bears went 70.0% from the free-throw line 14-of-20.

Livingstone outrebounded Morris, 47-25.

The Blue Bears will travel to Anderson, South Carolina to take on Anderson University, on November 30. The first tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
