Volleyball Falls in a 3-1 Decision to Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Livingstone Volleyball (2-18,0-15) dropped in s 1-3 decision (13-25, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25) to Johnson C. Smith (5-11,3-8) Thursday evening at Brayboy Gymnasium.

Livingstone ht .008. The Blue Bears recorded 34 kills and 17 assists, 10 aces, and registered 43 digs. 

Johnson C. Smith hit .228. The Golden Bulls hit 47 kills in the match with 40 assists, nine aces, and 45 digs. 

Set 1

  • The Golden Bulls started set one on a 6-0 run over the Blue Bears. 
  • The Blue Bears couldn't continue a run allowing the Golden Bulls to take a 23-9 lead. 
  • Ultimately, the Golden Bulls took set one, 25-13.

Set 2

  • Ja'Nya Lunnermon started the Blue Bears off in set two with a Big kill assisted by Dekiya Wilson-Thomas. 
  • The Blue Bears held a four-point lead over the Golden Bulls after a couple of 3-0 runs, 13-9.
  • An attack error by the Golden Bulls would give the Blue Bears an eight-point lead, 21-13.
  • The Golden Bulls pulled within three after a 5-0 run, 22-19.
  • The Blue Bears tied the match up 1-1 after winning set two, 25-22.

Set 3

  • The Blue Bears held a 9-8 lead over the Golden Bulls with an attack error by Raquel Prince. 
  • The Golden Bulls quickly went on a 3-0 run to take back the lead, 9-11. 
  • The Blue Bears tied it up with another attack error by the Golden Bulls, 12-12.
  • The Blue Bears took the lead with a kill and a service error, 16-14. 
  • The Blue Bears and the Golden Bulls traded leads until the Golden Bulls went on a 3-0 run taking the lead, 22-19.
  • Ultimately, the Golden Bulls took set three, 25-20. 

Set 4

  • The Blue Bears took an early 3-1 over the Golden Bulls.
  • The Golden Bulls quickly tied it up and took the lead with a 4-0 run, 5-3.
  • The Blue Bears continued to trail by two, 11-9.
  • The Golden Bulls continued to pull away, taking a four-point lead over the Blue Bears, 20-16.
  • Ultimately, the Golden Bulls closed out set four with a 5-0 run, 25-16.
