Salisbury, NC- The Livingstone Blue Bears delivered an exceptional defensive performance in their 13-10 home opening loss to Clark Atlanta at the West Rowan Classic in Alumni Memorial Stadium.
Malik Head and Jaden Echols lead the defense in a combined 15-tackle assault as the Blue Bears fall to 0-1 for the season.
The Blue Bears held the Panther to only 142 yards of offense while recording 195 yards in total offense themselves.
A highly defensive start in the opening drives, which only put the Panthers in field goal striking distance on the first scoring drive giving CAU a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Miles Hayes found wide receiver Tre Fields for Livingstone's first trip to the end zone giving the Blue Bears a 7-3 lead at the 3:32 mark of the first half.
The second half produced a scoreless outcome for both teams, but a series of team penalties found the Blue Bears in possession and fielding troubles. In the third quarter, both teams held each other to only producing field goal outcomes leaving the score tied 10-10 for 16 more drives. The game was closed out with another field goal from the Panthers after a team penalty on third down by Livingstone which put CAU in position to end the contest.
The Blue Bears entourage down 85 South to meet the Tigers of Savannah State on Saturday, September 11 for a twilight match up. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
