MBB Falls to St. Aug's, 91-85

SALISBURY - Visiting Saint Augustine's shot 49.3% from the field and got 40 points from guard Tyre Gathright to down Livingstone College 91-85, in CIAA men's basketball action at New Trent Gym on Wednesday evening.

The Blue Bears raced out to an early 21-13 lead after a Roger Ray three at the 10:45 mark. 

SAU would then trim the Blue Bear cushion to 37-31 on free throws, but LC embarked on a 3-6 run over the last 2:24 of the first half to take the 40-37 lead at the break.

In the second half, SAU would steadily build the lead, second half on a 14-3 run.  Saint Augustine's Jalen Gaddy's 3-pointer Falcons a 44-43 lead.

LC would chip away at the SAU lead but could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way as SAU took the 91-85 win.

Ray led Livingstone with 38 points a career high. Ray was 7-for-14 from downtown and made 13 of 15 free throws.

The Blue Bears conclude the regular season with a home game against Winston-Salem State University at New Trent Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 23. Game time is 4 p.m.
