Blue Bear Men edge Lincoln (Pa) 67-63

SALISBURY, NC - The Livingstone Blue Bears overcame a one-point halftime deficit to edge Lincoln University, 67-63 in a CIAA cross division game Saturday afternoon inside New Trent Gym. Despite being outrebounded 50-34, LC got double-figure scoring from all five starters and a strong second-half performance to defeat the visiting Lions.

Sophomore Cameron Carpenter (Flint, MI) led the scoring with 16 points.  He also had six steals while shooting 70% (7 of 10) from the field.

As a team, LC scored 28 points off 24 Lincoln turnovers to turn a halftime deficit into a second-half lead. The team's 11 steals led to 16 fast break points.

Lydell Elmore (13 pts), Roger Ray (11 pts), Navar Elmore (11 pts) and Malik Smith (10 pts) all contributed to the offense that only had six bench points.

The win closes out a brief home stand; improves its overall record to 7-2, CIAA: 3-0 and extends its current winning streak to four games.

Lincoln falls to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Next up, Livingstone travels to Fayetteville to face the undefeated Broncos of Fayetteville State in a key early-season CIAA Southern Division matchup.

Tip off is scheduled for 7:30, Monday, December 9 in Capel Arena on the FSU campus.
