Men's Basketball falls to Bowie State, 82-69

BOWIE - Livingstone's College men's basketball team fell to Bowie State on Monday, 82-69 in the A.C. Jordan Arena.

Livingstone scored only 24 points in the first half and was behind by 14 at the break.

On the top half of the stat sheet, Livingstone finished the cross-division contest shooting 31.8 percent from the field and 63.6 percent at the charity stripe (21-of-33). The Bulldogs and Blue Bears combined for 11-of-38 behind the arc. Bowie State closed out the night shooting 31.7 percent from the field (20-of-63) and 75.5 percent at the free throw line.
 
Jalen Fykes and Roger Ray were Livingstone's top scorers with 14 and 13 points respectively while Malik Dupree came off the Blue Bears' bench to grab a team-high eight rebounds and Malik Smith pulled down a half dozen rebounds in the loss.
 
Cameron Hayes scored 27 points for Bowie State 27 points, and David Belle contributed 12 points, which included a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line.
 
The Bulldogs improve to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA, while the Blue Bears fall to 6-5 and 0-3 in the CIAA.

Livingstone will be home for the next three games hosting Elizabeth City on Thursday, January 10, followed by a Saturday, January 12 tilt with the Trojans of Virginia State and will wrap up the northern division opponents with Chowan on Monday, January 14.
