Salisbury, NC- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in conjunction with the CIAA Football Coaches Association and CIAA Sports Information Directors announced their selections for the 2014 All-CIAA First Team, All-CIAA Second Team, and CIAA All-Rookie team on Thursday. Five members of the Blue Bear football team were named, including
Jalen Hendricks,
Drew Powell,
Austin Higgins,
Kenneth White and
Leonardo Manzo.
The famous duo, wide receiver Junior
Jalen Hendricks (Nashville, TN) and Quarterback
Drew Powell (Upper Marlboro, MD) were both named to the Offensive All-CIAA First Team.
Hendricks also took the top individual award for the Offensive Player of The Year.
Jalen Hendricks, ranks number one overall (71) and number one in the CIAA (48) for receptions. Hendricks also ranks first overall (1070) and second in the CIAA (636) for yards. Powerhouse Hendricks doesn't stop there as he comes in yet again at number one overall (118.9) and number one in the CIAA (106.0) for yards per game. Hendricks ranks number one for what he does best, touchdowns, finishing with (12) overall and sixth in the CIAA (5). Hendricks leads the Blue Bears this season in points with 82.
Hendricks and Powell were a great duo throughout the season leading the Blue Bears to victory in numerous match-ups this season.
Powell finished first overall (171) and first in the CIAA (131) for completions. He finished first overall (313) and first in the CIAA (243) for attempts. Powell in addition, finished first overall (2241) and first in the CIAA (1602) for yards. Powell tops in at number one as well overall, (26) and first in the CIAA (16) for passing touchdowns. Powell continues his honors, finishing second overall (14) and second in the CIAA (9) for interceptions. He also peaks at number one in the CIAA (17) for sacks. Powell leads second in points for the Blue Bears following Hendricks, with 42. In addition, he tops with (881) rushing yards for the season.
Other Blue Bears were
Austin Higgins, who was named to the Offensive All-CIAA Second Team, and
Kenneth White and
Leonardo Manzo who were both named to the Defensive All-CIAA Second team.
Tightend
Austin Higgins (Winston-Salem, NC), played in nine games this season for the Blue Bears. He finished with 25 receptions, 275 receiving yards and 3 total touchdowns.
Linebacker
Kenneth White (Southport, NC), leads overall (1) for returned for touchdown. White finished second overall (60) and second in the CIAA (34) for assists. He also comes in second overall (101) and third in the CIAA (67) for tackles. White surfaces in third overall (10.1) and third in the CIAA (9.6) for tackles per game. Kenneth leads the Blue Bears in tackles with 101, (41 Solo) and (60) assists.
Punter
Leonardo Manzo (Gainesville, GA), finished third overall (35) and sixth in the CIAA (21) for P-A-T attempts. He is fifth overall (28) for P-A-T made. Manzo finished with an overwhelming (1655) punting yards this season.
The Livingstone Blue Bears ended their season 5-5 overall and 2-5 in CIAA conference play.
