Lincoln, PA- The Livingstone College football team shut down the Lincoln University Lions 35-7, in Lincoln, PA.
The Blue Bears quickly moved the ball up the field to begin the game. On a quarterback keep at the three yard line, Powell rushed in for a touchdown.
Leonardo Manzo's extra point was good, 7-0. The Lions' defense played decent coverage and with 1:18 left in the first quarter, sacked Powell. Hype off the play, the officials called unsportsmanlike conduct against the Blue Bears. With 40 seconds left in the first quarter, the Blue Bears'
Malcolm Childress forced the Lions to fumble.
Henry Horne recovered the ball for Livingstone.
In the second quarter, Powell read the defense very well and completed a 46 yard reception to
Anthony Holland for a wide open touchdown, the PAT was good to push the Blue Bears' lead 14-0. With 2:28 left in the first half,
Justin Forte rushed in for an 11 yard touchdown, the PAT was good. The Blue Bears increased the lead to 21-0. With less than two minutes, a personal foul was called against the Blue Bears. The penalty placed the Lions on the Blue Bears' four yard line which resulted in a touchdown. Lincoln landed on the clock behind the Blue Bears 21-7.
The Lions came out into the second half energized. Lincoln forced the Blue Bears to attempt a 13 yard field goal in which Manzo missed. The Lions offense drove up the field all the way to the LC one yard line. The Blue Bears determined, forced the Lions to fumble the ball. Livingstone's
Trevor Stuart recovered the ball with 3:50 left in the third quarter. Â Both teams ended the third quarter scoreless.
The Blue Bears began the fourth quarter with yet another touchdown. Powell faked the Lions out and passed up the middle to
Miles Harris for another wide open touchdown. The extra point was good and increased the lead to 28-7. The Lions received an automatic first down after the officials called a roughing the passer penalty on the Blue Bears. The Lions couldn't convert and turned the ball over on downs. With 2:49 left in the game,
Rodney Brown caught a 36 yard reception for the Blue Bears, the PAT was good and Livingstone increased the score to 35-7.
The Blue Bears improved their record to 2-2 overall.
Livingstone will return to action on October 5 as they host Virginia Union University at Alumni Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
