Blue Bear Volleyball Falls to Shaw 3-0

Livingstone Travels to Chowan Sunday

SALISBURY, NC – The Livingstone volleyball team dropped their CIAA match Thursday evening to the Shaw Bears 3-0.

 

With the loss, the Blue Bears fell to 9-4 overall, 4-4 in the CIAA and 0-3 in the Western Division.  Shaw improved to 8-5 overall, 6-4 in the conference and 2-3 in the Western Division.

In the first game the two teams stayed close to each other through the first 18 points and the game was tied at 9-9.  Livingstone took a 12-10 lead and increased it to four points at 20-16, but could only muster one more point throughout the remainder of the game.  Shaw took nine of the last 10 points to take the first game 25-21.

 

The Blue Bears couldn't get anything going offensively in the second game.  Livingstone had only three kills with five errors on 22 total attacks.  Shaw took the second game 25-9.

 

Livingstone took an early lead in the third game only to see it quickly disappear.  Late in the game, Shaw held a four-point lead at 23-19 and Livingstone made a small run, but was unable to sustain the pressure.  Shaw took the third game 25-21.

For the match, Livingstone hit .049 with 22 kills, 17 assists, 39 digs and seven team blocks.  Shaw hit .189 with 34 kills, 27 assists, 38 digs and two team blocks.

The Livingstone volleyball team will be back in action Sunday when they travel to take on Chowan for a 3 p.m. start.
