Livingstone Athletics Hall of Fame
Born August 17, 1954, Lexington, North Carolina. Graduated from E. E. Smith Senior High School, Fayettevile, North Carolina in 1972. I was recruited by Coach Alfred Poe of Livingstone College to play tennis along with Jerry Partee, and Bryce Holmes both from Lexington, North Carolina. We received full tennis scholarships for 4 years.

Graduated from Livingstone College, May 25th, 1976, with a BS Degree in Business Administration. Accomplishments include All CIAA Tennis Team, several years including my freshman year. Team CIAA Runner-Ups severals, Individual CIAA Runner-Up in Singles and Doubles in my Division, Team CIAA Southern Division Champions, Individual Southern Division Champion in Division, Singles and Doubles several times. Livingstone College Four Year Letterman as a Tennis Player. Dean List, senior year. Sports Editor of Livingston College Yearbook, senior year. Member of the Cooperative Education Pilot Program (Business Department) senior year. Sportsmanship Award from SGA, senior year. Member of the Business Commercial Club, Yearbook Staff 4 years. I have fond memories of our football, wrestling, golf, the band and tennis teams gaining respect throughout the CIAA during my years at Livingstone College 1972 - 1976.

Worked as a Supervision Miliken and Company, Textiles, New York Life Insurance Company, Insurance Agent, Roanoke, Virginia, International Harvester Company (Credit Division) Territory Credit Rep,, Roanoke, Virginia, Business Ed. Teacher, and Assistant Tennis Coach Roanoke Virginia City Schools, Member of The Samuel Bo Terry Tennis Tournament & Scholarship Committee, (raising money for scholarships for future college students in financial need), Business Ed. Teacher, and Head Tennis Coach, Guilford County Schools, TW Andrews High School, High Point, North Carolina. As Head Tennis Coach at TW Andrews Tennis Team (Men and Women), won 4 Conference Championships, Conference Coach of the Year 3 years, coached 20 All Conference Tennis Players, 16 years of coaching. Active member of St. James Presbyterian Church (USA), Greensboro, North Carolina, as officer (Elder), and Vice President of the Presbyterian Men. Married to Susan O. Young of Roanoke, Virginia for 20 years, until her death in 2007 due to cancer. Have 2 sons, Christopher and Tyler Young, both earned Track Scholarships to Winston Salem State University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Retired from International Haverster Company, and Guilford County Schools.
