Coach Carl James, Jr. begins his first official season as an Assistant Coach, guiding the Wide Receivers group. Coach James served as a student assistant coach for the Wide Receivers, 2013-2014 season with the Blue Bears before beginning his official coaching career.
Originally from Williston, Florida, a small town approximately 15 miles south of Gainesville, Florida, James attended high at Williston High School where he graduated in 2008 as a 3-sport athlete. James garnered 1st team all-area and 2nd team all-state his senior year for football and was honorable mention In Basketball and Baseball.
After high school James went on to St. Johns Community College in Palatka, Florida as a member of the varsity basketball team. Prior to beginning his official coaching career, Coach James served as a student assistant coach for the Wide Receivers during the 2013-2014 season. James first official season as a coach was 2014-2015 as Assistant Coach, Coach James was effective among the coaching staff whose offense earned the #2 ranking in the conference. James was also influential in developing Jalen Hendricks to the CIAA Player of the Year and an All American Title. Among other athletes, James also coached Austin Higgins, who made 2nd team All CIAA. The 2015-2016 season James moved over to the defense side of the ball coaching the defensive backs. James secondary also broke single game interceptions in a game in 2015-2016 seasons. James ventures on the defensive side of the ball with Defensive Coordinator, Coach Hughey. James will coach the Defensive Backs and begin the 16-17 seasons as Associate Head Coach. The 2016-2017 seasons James lead defensive back Brian Dickerson to the all-rookie team. Also in the year of 2016-2017 James was invited to coach in the USA Bowl.
James attended St. Johns Community College for one year, post high school, as a member of their basketball team. However, James then transferred to Reedley College to continue his career on the football gridiron. During his junior college career James recorded 40 receptions and accumulated 520 total yards. James graduated from Reedley College in 2011 with an Associate degree in Social Science.
James transferred to Livingstone College in 2011 to continue his higher education and football career. Coach James first year at Livingstone was considered the “year of the break”; regarding Livingstone finally breaking a losing streak of 28 straight games. James started a total of 20 games for Livingstone College. James recorded 35 receptions, 420 total yards, and 3 touchdowns his senior years. Post season, James was nominated to play in the American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During that game, James recorded 4 receptions for 70 yards and 1 touchdown.

James is the son of Carl and Harriet James, Sr., and one of three children. James currently resides in Salisbury, North Carolina. James graduated from Williston High School in 2008 as a three-sport athlete. During his football high school tenure, James was 1st team all-area, and 2nd team all-state honors his senior year. Additionally, James was honorable mention for both basketball and baseball.
James graduated from Livingstone College in May 2014 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. James is currently pursuing his MBA in Sports Business.
