Salisbury, N.C.- The Livingstone College softball team put together a memorable performance on Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Paine College in a doubleheader at the Jaycee Optimist Sports Complex with wins of 4–3 and 8–6.
Game 1: Livingstone 4, Paine 3
Livingstone delivered an incredible comeback in the seventh inning to secure a dramatic 4–3 victory in the opener. Trailing 3–1 entering the final frame, the Blue Bears surged offensively when it mattered most.
Makaylah Sutton ignited the rally with a solo home run to center field, pulling Livingstone within one.
Saniya Lakey followed with a clutch single to right field to tie the game at 3–3. Moments later,
Rylee Watson sealed the comeback with a game‑winning single, scoring
Tykera Lundy and sending the Blue Bears to victory.
Lanise Pates was steady in the circle, going the full seven innings while allowing just three runs on six hits. She earned her first win of the season, striking out two and keeping Paine off the board in the decisive seventh inning.
Valeria Rolon sparked the offense with an RBI double, while Livingstone finished with 10 hits in the contest.
Game 2: Livingstone 8, Paine 6
Livingstone carried the momentum into Game 2, earning an 8–6 win to complete the sweep. The Blue Bears used aggressive baserunning and timely hitting to maintain control throughout the game.
Rylee Watson played a key role offensively, driving in three runs and delivering a pivotal two‑run double in the sixth inning to extend Livingstone's lead.
Alyse Stokes added two RBIs, while Abdul‑Hakim and
Aniyah Jones each recorded multi‑hit performances.
In the circle, Livingstone used a pitching combination of
Aniyah Jones,
Gabriella Munoz, and
Lanise Pates. Pates closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning to earn her second win of the day and secure the sweep.
