Livingstone Drops Doubleheader to Carolina University

Winston-Salem, N.C.- The Livingstone College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Carolina University on Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Park, falling 10–1 in Game 1 and narrowly 13–12 in a back‑and‑forth Game 2 thriller.

Game 1: Carolina 10, Livingstone 1
Livingstone struggled to contain Carolina's offense early in the opener, as Carolina plated two runs in the first inning and followed with a seven‑run second to take control of the game. Carolina finished with 15 hits in the five‑inning contest.

The Blue Bears broke through in the top of the fifth inning when Valeria Rolón reached on a fielding error, allowing Natayah Abdul‑Hakim to score the lone run. Abdul‑Hakim and Gerielle Dumervil led Livingstone at the plate, combining for three of the team's four hits, with Dumervil going a perfect 2‑for‑2.

Lanise Pates took the loss in the circle, pitching four innings for Livingstone.

Game 2: Carolina 13, Livingstone 12
Livingstone bounced back with an explosive offensive performance in Game 2 but came up just short in a dramatic one‑run loss.

The Blue Bears jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the first inning and later mounted a five‑run rally in the fifth to briefly take a 10–9 advantage. Alyse Stokes delivered a strong offensive showing, going 3‑for‑5 with four RBIs, while Natayah Abdul‑Hakim scored four runs and added a triple. Valeria Rolón and Lanise Pates also drove in multiple runs, and Livingstone totaled nine hits and drew nine walks.

Despite tying the game at 12–12 in the top of the seventh, Carolina responded with the game‑winning run in the bottom half, securing the sweep.
